Our Issues

NASBHC advocates for national, state, and local policies, programs and funding that sustain, grow, and integrate school-based health care into our nation’s health care and education systems. NASBHC’s advocacy power is derived from the field – the thousands of passionate and committed school-based health care professionals, consumers and advocates across the nation who are the heart of this grassroots movement.

Section Highlights

Get Informed. NASBHC advocates for public policies that support school-based health care, a unique, cost-effective, child-centered strategy for delivering care to students where they are—in school. Our 2012 policy advocacy agenda focuses on school-based health centers (SBHCs) in the changing health care landscape, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program reimbursement policies and practices, federal and state grant initiatives, and issues specific to adolescent health access and utilization.

Take Action. Our Action Center is a useful resource for advocates to reach out to their members of Congress and let them know about the great work SBHCs are doing in their districts. NASBHC has a wide range of Advocacy Resources available to facilitate advocacy strategies on the local, state, and national level. Through organized State Associations, NASBHC works cooperatively with states to help advance federal, state, and local policy changes.
