State Organizations
While NASBHC advocates on behalf of school-based health care around the country, many states have entities that represent the school-based health care movement at the state and local levels. Most of the state level entities have formed independent nonprofit organizations, while others have joined similar-minded nonprofit groups to represent school-based health care concerns.
The majority of these organizations have chosen to become affiliates of NASBHC (see information below for more information about state affiliates). In other states, there is an interest in developing an organization to represent the interests of school-based health care, and stakeholders are working toward that goal and affiliating with NASBHC. We consider these groups to be “Emerging Organizations.” A couple of states have state organizations, but at this time have determined they are not able to meet the requirements of NASBHC affiliates.
State Affiliates
NASBHC and State Affiliates create a formal relationship which reflects the desire of both parties to build a strong national organization with a network of strong state associations representing and working on behalf of children, adolescents, their families, and school-based health care.
Building from an agreement to share in the NASBHC Board-approved mission, vision, and core values, NASBHC and State Affiliates assist each other in building a comprehensive coalition and a grassroots movement to advance a federal policy agenda supportive of school-based and school-linked health services.
NASBHC and State Affiliates bring unique assets to the relationship that makes the movement more viable, effective and sustainable in advocating for school-based health care.
States interested in becoming a State Affiliate should review: application guidelines, affiliate benefits, and the affiliation agreement.
