Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) ToolThe CQI Tool will be revised in the second half of 2012 to reflect recent developments in child health quality measures. Traditional tools for measuring quality in a pediatric setting often do not account for the unique characteristics of the SBHC setting. NASBHC’s CQI Tool provides an SBHC-specific framework for measuring quality in age-specific measures and a mechanism for setting site specific goals. The CQI Tool was last revised in 2008. The process of implementing the CQI Tool
History of the CQI ToolThe Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s (RWJ) Making the Grade initiative initiated an effort to provide a framework for measuring quality of care in SBHCs; thereby, strengthening the quality of SBHCs across the United States. The first phase of developing the CQI Tool was done with support from the US Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, Bureau of Primary Health Care and RWJ, Making the Grade (now the Center for Health and Health Care in Schools). This initial effort resulted in the development of the tool; web-based testing of the tool; provision of technical assistance; and dissemination of initial findings. In 2001, a draft CQI Tool was developed and tested in 19 sites. In 2003, the tool was transferred to NASBHC. Subsequently, the Tool was revised in October, 2008. The tool is currently under revision with a new version to be released in mid 2012. |
