Oral Health

Dental problems are the most commonly cited unmet need among children with tooth decay being one of the most common diseases of childhood. Healthy People 2010, a national health promotion and disease prevention initiative, run by the Office of Health and Human services (HHS) has listed the prevention and control of oral and craniofacial diseases, conditions, and injuries (and increasing access to related services) as their main objectives. The location of SBHCs positions them perfectly to aid HHS in achieving these objectives.

But only 8.2% of SBHCs provide comprehensive dental care, and only 13% of SBHCs have a dental provider. This page provides information and resources related to providing oral health services in SBHCs: Snapshot of Oral Health Services Provided in SBHCs
