 HIT/EHR National Workshop

HRSA’s Office of Health Information Technology (OHIT) is pleased to announce the first HIT/EHR National Workshop of 2009 as part of OHIT’s ongoing technical assistance efforts. The upcoming workshop will be hosted by the National Assembly on School-Based Health Care August 6th and August 7th in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. 

This 2-day vendor neutral workshop on EHR implementation will include topics such as EHR implementation and process reengineering for improved patient outcomes for school-based health centers. In addition to quality improvement, this “Hands on Workshop” will include pre-implementation activities, “go-live” week, and post implementation challenges, especially those specific to the school-based health center field.

if you are a 330 BPHC sponsored community health center or rural health center, title V state block grant funded, local health department sponsored you are eligible to attend this workshop

The goals of this workshop are:

  1. The participant will be able to evaluate opportunities and challenges for SBHCs to convert to Electronic Health (Medical) Record (EHR) and determine the basic requirements for an EHR system within SBHCs
  2. The participant will identify resources, training and the infrastructure needed by SBHCs and sponsoring organizations to convert to EHR.
  3. The participant will be able to assess education and health care policies and finance mechanisms that support the conversion to EHR systems, including community, state, and regional networks
  4. The participant will be able to outline necessary steps required to implement a project in a SBHC.
  5. The participant will be able to discuss scenarios that occur during the implementation process and learn to develop strategies on how to avoid and/or respond to issues.
  6. The participant will be able to outline a timeline for implementation.

 Participants planning to attend should meet the following criteria: 

·         HRSA-funded grantees

·         Manages/sponsors school-based health centers

·         Planning to implement an EHR in 6 -12 months
